Find Grimes County Traffic Records

Start with the court named on your citation: that justice or municipal court keeps the Grimes County traffic court records. No single county citation database exists. Each ticket lists a court name and an appearance date, so read those first. Once you know the court, contact its clerk by phone, at the counter, or in writing to look up the case. The court file can show the charge, the plea, any settings, and requests you or the court have made, along with how the case stands now. It is not the same thing as your state driver record. Ask the clerk for current steps, since paying, contesting, taking a course, and seeking deferred resolution each lead somewhere different.

Traffic Court Records in Grimes County

Start with the court named on your citation. That court holds the file. In Grimes County, a ticket lands in one of three Justice of the Peace precincts, or in the municipal courts tied to Navasota and Todd Mission. The District Clerk and County Clerk are not the first stop for an ordinary ticket. The lower court keeps the citation, your plea, the settings, and the orders until an appeal sends the case up to county court.

Each JP precinct covers its own towns. Precinct 1 serves Bedias, Iola, Keith, Shiro, and Singleton. Precinct 2 handles Anderson, Richards, Plantersville, and Todd Mission. Precinct 3 takes Navasota, Courtney, Whitehall, and Salem. City limits alone do not settle the question, since a state citation may point to a JP court while a city citation points to a municipal court.

Grimes County Traffic Court Routing

Whatever court the citation names, that is your first call. The county JP page gives the routing for all three precincts. Navasota and Todd Mission publish municipal contacts. Bedias, Iola, Anderson, and Plantersville have no current municipal listing.

Court Location Phone
JP Precinct 1 23710 FM 39, Iola 936-394-2060
JP Precinct 2 1170 CR 280, Anderson 936-873-6452
JP Precinct 3 205 Veterans Memorial Drive, Navasota 936-873-3900
Navasota Municipal Court 200 E McAlpine, Navasota 936-825-6268
Todd Mission Municipal Court 21718 FM 1774, Plantersville 936-894-3001 in OCA directory

One caution on phone numbers. The Todd Mission fine PDF shows an older number, 936-894-1123. Confirm the current line before you pay a fine or plan a court appearance.

How to Look Up a Traffic Ticket

Grimes County offers no single citation lookup. Work the problem in three steps. Start with the citation, contact the court it names, then confirm details directly with that court.

  1. Read the court name, citation number, charge, and appearance date on the ticket.
  2. Call the named JP or municipal court. Navasota asks people to allow five days after the violation before calling or visiting.
  3. Visit the court counter if phone confirmation does not resolve the status.
  4. Use the written reply form where the court supplies one. Navasota's form provides plea, course, deferred, mail, and in-person choices.
  5. Try the county-linked LGS index only if its office and record choices identify the correct lower court; traffic coverage was not confirmed.
  6. Use re:SearchTX only as a secondary check. Lower municipal and traffic coverage cannot be assumed.

A phone call alone does not count as an appearance under the Navasota notice. You must still complete the plea, payment, or appearance the court requires.

Grimes County Traffic Search Fields

The official Navasota reply form is not a live search tool, but it lists the details the municipal court asks for. The justice court and Todd Mission publish no search fields.

Field Use Source limit
Name Identifies the cited person Reply-form field
Mailing address Supports notices and response City, state, and ZIP included
Phone Contact detail Not a substitute for appearance
Driver-license number Required for some requests Do not post it publicly
Citation number Locates the court case Attach citation copy when directed
Signature and date Records the selected response Return by applicable deadline

Type the citation number exactly as printed on the ticket. The complete citation number on the ticket is the safe reference, since no local shorthand format applies across courts.

Finding Your Traffic Court Date

Start with the appearance date on the citation. That date may be a plea deadline. It may be a day to contact the court, not a full trial date. Plead not guilty in Navasota? The court later notifies you of a pretrial conference with the city prosecutor. That step does not waive your jury right.

Court The JP or municipal court printed on the citation.
Citation number The local key used when calling or filing a reply.
Appearance date The deadline stated on the ticket or court notice.
Setting type Plea appearance, pretrial conference, hearing, or trial as ordered.
Location The address supplied by the named court.
Status Any later reset, warrant action, or disposition that the court confirms.

If you need a new court date, trust the most recent written notice from the court itself. Posted dockets can fall behind after a reset, and the county court calendar routes spell out why that lag happens.

Grimes County Traffic Reply Options

Navasota's reply form stands out for its detail. Guilty, no contest, not guilty with a pretrial, a defensive safety course, deferred disposition, guilty with explanation: each gets its own checkbox. Treat them as separate roads. Filing a written explanation is not a not-guilty plea, and mailing a request does not mean the court approved it.

Paying by mail? The form wants a cashier's check or money order. Cash and personal checks are out. Enclose a copy of the citation, the signed waiver, and a stamped return envelope so the court can send a receipt. A not-guiful reply may go by mail or in person, and the court will notify you of the pretrial setting. Call 936-825-6268 to confirm current terms before you send any money.

Note: The appearance date governs the response, and mailing a request does not guarantee approval of a course or deferred disposition.

Paying or Contesting a Ticket

Paying a traffic ticket is a plea decision, not a routine checkout. Read the waiver first. Ask the court how the disposition will be recorded, since a contest instead starts with a timely not-guilty plea and the court's later setting process.

Choice Immediate act What follows
Pay or plead Use the court's accepted method and signed waiver Court enters the plea and disposition
Contest Enter not guilty by the stated deadline Court sends pretrial or trial notice
Defensive safety course Request by the appearance date with required proof and fee Approval, course deadline, and completion documents
Deferred disposition Plead guilty or no contest and request court terms Bond or costs, conditions, and later dismissal if completed

Failure to appear can add consequences. Navasota's form lists warrant action, a separate failure-to-appear charge, state notification, collection costs, and renewal effects.

A telephone call does not count as an appearance. Contact the court and complete the action it requires.

Grimes County Traffic Course Limits

A course request must arrive by the appearance date at the latest under the Navasota form. Bring the listed supporting documents. Include a copy of your driver license, the signed form, and the stated fee. Once the court approves it, you get 90 days to finish the course. Then order a certified Texas driving record. Turn in the completion certificate, that certified record, and a notarized affidavit.

The exclusions are specific. A commercial driver license disqualifies you. So does a course taken within the prior 12 months. Speed of 95 mph or more bars it, as does 25 mph over the limit. Passing a school bus counts too. Serious traffic offenses and specified accident failures qualify. So do a construction zone with workers present and no valid Texas driver license. These are Navasota form terms only. Another Grimes County court may use different criteria. Ask the named JP or municipal court for its own rules.

Grimes County Traffic Deferral Requests

Deferred disposition asks something in return. In Navasota, you enter a guilty or no-contest plea. You pay court costs and follow any bond or conditions the court sets. Finish everything the form requires, and the case gets dismissed. Miss the mark, and the court can enter judgment. It can convict you and report the matter to the state.

Want to ask by mail? Send the supporting documents listed on the form. Include your driver license and the amount the court sets. The mail and in-person deferral route is closed to certain cases, though. It excludes commercial-license cases and construction-zone worker cases. School-bus offenses, some document-related charges, and nontraffic matters qualify too. So do juvenile cases and speed 26 mph or more above the limit. Until the judge acts, treat your own eligibility as an open question, not a done deal.

Court Traffic Record vs Driver Record

Two records can trace back to the same traffic stop, yet different offices hold them. The court record is the one a Grimes County traffic search turns on, and the clerk of the court named on the citation is the office to ask.

File Custodian Contents
Court traffic record Named JP or municipal court Citation, charge, plea, setting, request, order, payment, and disposition
State driver record State licensing agency State-reported licensing and eligibility entries

A court traffic record and a driver record are two different files, and they do not always update on the same schedule even when the court transmits its disposition through state process. The driver record is not something the Grimes County clerk handles. For the citation case itself, including a certified copy of the outcome, contact the lower court that heard it.

Grimes County Traffic FTA Notice

Navasota's failure-to-appear notice says to wait five days after the violation before calling or visiting. Then call or visit the court. Miss a court date or a payment, though, and the trouble stacks up fast. The notice warns of a warrant. It also flags a separate $349 failure-to-appear charge, state notification, and vehicle-registration denial. Clearing the state report costs a $10 notification fee per case. A 30 percent collection addition can apply. These figures come from the official form. Confirm current amounts with the court.

The same form says you may request a payment plan or community service. Asking is not the same as getting relief, and nothing happens on its own. Contact the court right away. Look at what the case record shows. Follow the written instructions from the judge or clerk.

Fees and Copies

Traffic fines depend on the charge and the court hearing it. Navasota's official form lists sample amounts. Speeding 1 to 9 mph over runs $222. The charge is $234 at 10 mph over and $255 at 20 mph over. Added per-mile amounts apply beyond those ranges. A stop-sign or red-light charge runs $257 as another example. No county-wide JP schedule is posted. Always verify the exact amount before you pay.

Navasota item Form amount
Defensive course, moving charge $144
Defensive course, school zone $169
Failure to appear $349
State notification to clear, per case $10
Collection addition 30 percent

Need a copy of the traffic case? Ask the named court directly about its fees for plain and certified copies. County District Clerk rates do not carry over to JP or municipal records. So the price differs. Grimes County posts no photo-enforcement program in its official materials.

Grimes County Traffic Record Fallback

The Plantersville ordinances and notices page is an official city-record starting point.

Plantersville runs no confirmed municipal court portal of its own.

A ticket that names JP Precinct 2 belongs with that justice court instead.
